Candice Miller’s Zero Record for Michigan

Miller Candice Miller, the real-life embodiment of the Chauncey Gardner (see “Being There†by Jerzy Kosinski), disses Governor Jennifer Granholm in a letter to the editor as a do-nothing blame gamer without leadership and no plan for the state. (Forget, for now, the obvious question about Dick DeVos’ blame game strategy).

With this invitation, it looks like the perfect time to talk about Candice Miller’s record as a representative to the US Congress for the 10th District of Michigan.

First elected in 2002 in a seat custom-designed for her by her buds in Lansing, Miller has yet to be the primary sponsor of any bill that’s made it into law. The leftover co-sponsorships include such notables as:

  • Public Law No. 108-64, to re-name the visitor center in Organ Pipe National Monument in Arizona,
  • Public Law No. 108-289, to provide for the issuance of a coin commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement,
  • Public Law No. 108-473, to require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in commemoration of Chief Justice John Marshall,
  • Public Law No. 108-97, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located in Carolina, Puerto Rico, as the “Roberto Clemente Walker Post Office Building,†and
  • Public Law No. 109-191, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located in Gagetown, Michigan, as the “Gagetown Veterans Memorial Post Office.â€

Now, we’re sure that everyone’s very happy over the hard work that Candice embodies in re-naming federal buildings and issuing a coin honoring a Supreme Court justice who’s been dead for 171 years -- we realize that there must have been some anguished decisions to make on those votes. As for ourselves, we were drunk with euphoria over the news of the Marshall coin! Yes, ma’am! Drunk! Marshall! Marshall! Marshall!

But, while we’re here, let’s take a look at all the laws that Miller sponsored or co-sponsored to help Michigan:

Didn’t see anything did you? Well, that’s because Miller has yet to have any laws passed that were designed to help Michigan. Not one. And this is with her Republicans holding a majority in Congress and a Republican president. Talk about leadership, eh, Miller? How ‘bout getting out of the way?

No, we’ll take Governor Granholm any day over Miller or the soap salesman DeVos. No matter how bad the economy at least Jenny won’t need a makeover.

An American, a Japanese and a Canadian were sitting naked in a sauna when suddenly there was a beeping sound. The American pressed his forearm, and the beep stopped. The others looked at him questioningly. "That was my pager he said. "I have a microchip under the skin of my arm."

A few minutes later a phone rang. The Japanese fellow lifted his palm to his ear. When he finished he explained "That was my mobile phone, I have a microchip in my hand."

The Canadian felt decidedly low-tech, but not to be outdone, he decided he had to do something just as impressive. He stepped out of the sauna and went to the toilet. He returned with a piece of toilet paper hanging from his butt. The others raised their eyebrows and stared at him. The Canadian finally said "Well, will you look at that! I'm getting a fax."

Candice Miller is a conservative.
She has probably noticed that we have way too many laws and regulations on the books already.
I personally feel that we need to eliminate about 50% of the statutes already on the books and then shrink gov.
Here in Michigan Taxes and government regulations are killing business and killing jobs growth.

MC: Yeah...that's IT. TOO many laws!
BTW, we're glad to see Ausies so worried about Michigan.
