Dear Mr. Cox,

Last year, the Department of Environmental Quality asked your office to authorize felony pollution warrants against Graceland Fruit, its owner Donald Nugent and Graceland’s waste hauler for dumping thousands of gallons of caustic blueberry waste into a remote gravel pit in Honor, Michigan. The resulting contamination leached into the ground, killing a once vibrant stream.

Michigan Caucus AG Opinion Poll

Most state party conventions are about as interesting as watching a meeting of the politburo. The business of the convention is finished well before it starts - with the party movers and shakers having already staked-out their candidates. There's little for the delegates to do, except fall into line and load-up on bumpre stickers. Floor-fights are rare and usually useless - the party rules make sure of that.

But, the Michigan Dems state convention this weekend might be different, with the big unions split on their support (or at least rumors of the split) and two qualified candidates working hard for the nomination.

Dick DeVos Drops Out of Race for Governor

Says He's Buying the State of Michigan

(Ada, Michigan) In an unprecedented an­nouncement, Republican gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos said today that he is dropping out of the race for Michigan gover­nor.

“I've spent over $13 million in advertising and I've only basically managed to tie Gov­er­nor Jennifer Granholm in opinion polls. That sucks. Because I'm a busi­ness­man, a job-­maker and a ‘decider,’ I've decided cut my losses and that it would be simply easier and cheap­er to buy Michi­gan than to buy the governor­ship.â€

CHUDD Terrorists Free the Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos

(DeWitt, Michigan) Insurgents overpowered Michigan Caucus commandos in a lunchtime operation today, freeing the Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos who had been help in captivity since August 7.

In response to the escape, the Omnipotent Office of Peninsular Security (OOPS) elevated its threat alert status to “Really Hot Pink, Baby†and requested all citizens to discard any gels or liquids purchased from Amway. No reason was provided for the request, but officials suggested that it was simply a prophylactic measure.

Amway Completes Purchase of Michigan Republican Party

Amway announces the completion of its purchase of the Michigan Republican Party. The price was not disclosed. The MRP will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Amway and will continue to elect its own board and chairman with approval of the majority shareholders, the DeVos and Van Andel families.

The MRP will change its name to the Michigan Republican Party of Amway.

“We’re happy to finally be able to wear the Amway logo,†said MRP chairman Saulius “Saul†Anuzis. “We’ve essentially been part of the Amway family for years, but now its official.†Anuzis is expected to stay on through his current term.

MRP/Amway officials expect to lay-off about 25 MRP workers and transfer about half the remaining jobs to Indonesia. Amway stock was unchanged at the close of markets.

BREAKING! The Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos Escapes!

In another twist to the stunning events of the last few days, the Michigan Caucus reports that the Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos has escaped just a day after his caputure by commandos.

Although reports are sketchy, the Michigan Caucus has reason to belive that the Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos is floating somewhere in the blogosphere. He is considered armless and extremely wealthy.

BREAKING NEWS! The Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos Captured!

The Michigan Caucus announced today that the Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos was captured in a daring daytime commando raid in Ada, Michigan.

Facing fierce resistance from Al-Ticor fighters, Michigan Caucus Special Forces raided a remote safe house in southwest Michigan only minutes after the Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos and his entourage arrived. It was not immediately known if there were any casualties.

The Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos was transfered to an undisclosed location for questioning and a medical evaluation. Sources close to the Michigan Caucus say that an initial physical examination revealed that the Disembodied Head of Dick DeVos to be in good health although not showing any vital signs.
