So, which is
it, Saul? The statesman or the Klansman? The son of Lithuanian
imÂmigrants who believes in the American Dream or the
cheapshot who perpetuates the politics of race?
On the statesman side Anuzis seems to be working hard show the
GOP's potential appeal to African Americans. For
inÂstance, read what Chairman Saulius had to say about
the GOP African American outreach program, "Juneteenth," on his
blog:
Sources close to the Michigan Caucus say that Dick Devos, the
Republican nominee for governor, is planning an "October Surprise."
A press conference has been scheduled by the DeVos campaign at 3:00
pm today in Grand Rapids.
DeVos is expected to announce his long-awaited plan to make-up
the projected $3.5 billion revenue shortfall anticipated from the
repeal of Michigan's Single Business Tax and other taxes DeVos says
he would do away with. DeVos has received harsh critisim from the
Democrats and the press for not revealing the specifics of his
economic plan and how he would replace revenue lost from the tax
repeals.
In an unprecidented move, DeVos will annouce that is he prepared
to dip into his own personal fortune and pay the state's revenue
shortfall - $3.5 billion or more - if elected govenor. DeVos could
lose up to 0.2% of his net worth.
The Michigan Caucus Internet Commandos were able to hack into
the DeVos for Governor site confirming that new content -
announcing "Dick to Pay Your Taxes!" - was set to be published at
the same time as the press conference.
Calls to the DeVos and Granholm campaigns were not returned, but
Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewski says that DeVos'
offer to pay off the deficit is simply a bald-faced effort to buy
the governor's office, "Dick DeVos is desperate."
Unconfirmed reports also say that DeVos will support a repeal of
the personal income tax, so long as people sign-up for an Amway
distributorship.
There once was a time when Republicans were moderate like
Governor William G. Milliken (1969-1982), seen here with Saul
Anuzis at the 1980 Republican National Convention in Detroit. The
same convention that nominated former California Governor Ronald R.
Reagan for president, marking the end of the Democratic Party as
the majority party for the next 26 years.
The guy on Milliken's right is (now) former Dearborn District
Court Judge William J. Runco who lost his reelection after
receiving a public censure
in 2001 from the Michigan Supreme Court for "self-dealing contrary to the interests of his (former
private) clients." (Convinced a real estate client to sell land at
low value to his secret business partner, then flipped the property
for a cool $41,000 profit). Until the censure, Runco was considered
for the GOP nomination to the Michigan Supreme Court. There's no
real story here, we just thought it makes an interesting picture.

Yeah, baby! Eat your heart out, or whatever it is that you have
left Disembodied One, the herd, er, people on YouTube have made
"Birth of a Candidate" the third
most linked comedy video this week (see it below). We'd like to
take this opportunity to thank everyone who made this film
possible: First, our producer, __________ _____, who supported this
film when no one else would but decided not to put one penny into
it; our writers, _______ ___ and _____ _____, who did the best job
they could without food or water until they finished the script;
our five directors, __ __, __________ _, _____ ______, _______
_____ and _ _, who brought such focused vision to this film; and,
the actors who didn't know that some 60 years later some hacks
would lift their classic film to dis' a gubernatorial candidate. We
like you, we really like you!
We've been promising to publish more on Michigan Republican
Party Chairman Saul Anuzis' (incomplete) college education at the
University of Michigan-Dearborn, and here it is. Read the March 25,
1981, editorial from the student newspaper, the Michigan Journal,
commenting on Anuzis' "leadership" of the Student Government for
giving its official recognition to the Association for White
Students ...

Dick DeVos wasn't always the obvious choice for the Michigan
Republican Party to run for governor against Jennifer Granholm.
State GOP movers-and-shakers, while leery of pissin' off the
xillionaire, didn't think that DeVos, with his Amway baggage and
aw-shucks riches-to-riches-to-riches story, was quite the guy for
the job. (Shit, the guy even looks like GWB - who want's THAT)?
So, how did DeVos breeze into the position of GOP
standard-bearer against Granholm? Was it a simple case of money
talking and bullshit walking - even though they were both available
in equal amounts? Or, was there something else? Something less
“concrete?â€
The Michigan Caucus has surreptitiously obtained a secret
Republican biography on Dick DeVos explaining this question.
Produced in China at the cost of several million dollars (US), the
film finally explains how DeVos manifested himself as the
Republican nominee for governor - beating out such notables as
State Representative Jack "Who?" Hoogendyk for the top of the
ticket.
And, now, at great risk to the lives of the Michigan Caucus
Special Commandos we're able to present this video to you. Filmed
entirely in coded Spanish (a peccadillo of the DeVos clan)
the film has been translated and subtitled into everyday English by
the Michigan Caucus Linguistics Division. If you happen to know
Spanish, remember that the dialogue is in
“code,†and that what may seem like
ordinary Spanish conversation, means something more, something more
deeply sinister...
Think you are?
Check again. With the Republicans devising new ways to
fraudulently disenfranchise
voters on a minute-by-minute basis, you can never be too sure.
Check your voter status at www.michigan.gov/vote.
If you're a Progressive Democrat, make sure you register by 5:00
p.m. today - go to your local governmental clerk or the nearest
Secretary of State's Office. If you are a Republican, the election
is next year. Really.
Now that Michael Bouchard is the Republican nominee for US
Senate, it looks like an opportune time to revisit this post
questioning some of the awards on the sheriff's uniform. First
published in April 2006, the Michigan Caucus couldn't explain the
awards then and still can't explain some of the awards on Mike's
uniform today...

Ahhh, there's something about a uniform. No doubt about it.
