Nominations Open for Michigan’s Worst 25

Logo25 The Michigan Caucus is taking nominations for Michigan’s Worst 25 List for 2006. So, nominate your favorite candidate, Republican, Democrat, Independent, or whatever, it doesn’t matter. The only criteria is that the nominee demonstrates the very worst in Michigan politics.

And 2006 gave us a bumper crop of misfeasance, malfeasance, hypocrites, race-baiting, hyper-spending, exaggeration, lies, jingoism and just plain stupidity.

SO DO IT NOW! All nominees will go up for a vote starting December 10. The winner will receive the coveted Tin Can Trashcan®. See the current Worst 25 List.

POST YOUR NOMINEE NOW!

Saw your post on dkos. My vote? So much to chose from. Let me think

Nominate more than one!!!

Tim Walberg: all kinds of crazy.

Is anyone to the "right" of this freak?

I nominate Rep. Chris Ward for his ethically challenged record.

I nominate: State Senator Bruce Patterson (R-Canton). Here are merely a few of the reasons why...

- Patterson exploded in a March 2006 Senate Energy & Technology Committee meeting. Mind you, he is supposed to be the Chair. For video documentation, be sure to check out "Patterson Gone Wild" on YouTube.

- Assaulted a young woman after she questioned him and his campaign staffer in the act of removing his Democratic opponent, Mark Slavens, lawn signs. You should read the police reports -- it is intense.

- On the note of his campaign stealing lawn signs, the Slavens campaign had about 2,000 lawn signs. Over the course of the campaign, nearly 1,000 had been taking. That is a lot of lawn signs to be taking down.

- Took over $40,000 in campaign contributions from energy companies in the past year alone, while chairing (but not leading with results for us consumers) the Senate Energy & Technology Committee.

- Exploded at this October's League of Women Voters Forum, after coming in late, that involved shouting and interrupting his opponent. He also berated the audience, all the while insulting our intelligence with misrepresentations of his behavior and record. He also claimed that his rosacea (not clear on the spelling of that, I must admit) was a certifiable disability.

- His campaign, it is presumed, is responsible for dumping screws and nails behind the tires of his opponent's campaign workers outside of their campaign office on Election Day. Two supporters got flat tires, not to mention were hampered in their Election Day efforts.

- Two months ago, he called State Senator Mark Schauer, then-Minority Floor Leader, "a sanctimonious little fart" whose eyes were brown "Because hes full of crap up to his hairline." He said that to the press.

- He assaulted State Representative John Stewart in 2002 by shutting Stewart's car door on him to try and get him to shut up after an 11th district GOP meeting in Garden City. Ask Stewart about it. He'd love to tell you.

- He sat on then-State Representative Bob Gosselin when he was House Majority Floor Leader to convince his fellow Republican to vote his way.

- Although I was not there to witness it, it has also been widely discussed how he publicly exploded at fellow Republican James DeSaena (former Wyandotte Mayor and head of MDOT) and made something out of nothing. Elected officials know more about it than I do.

- Raised $700,000 for his 2006 campaign. That is a shitload of money. He outspent his Democratic opponent ten-to-one. With that said, he only squeaked by with 51% to 49%.

Coleman Young, Jr. Hasn't lived in Detroit for more than a year. His work expirence starts and stops with Subway, Autozone, and interning with Detroit's City Council.

His public e-mail address is hosted by an Amway-connected company called World Wide Dream Builders.

Oh and he attended the far-right whacko evangelical Azusa Pacific University.

And on more, all of the LaMar Lemmonses. Any friend of LaRouche...

I second the vote for Coleman Young Jr.

I nominate Bruce Patterson as well. My reasoning is this, I was the woman Patterson assualted. I saw first hand just what type of jerk he is. It makes me sick that he is who represents me in the Michigan Senate.

I nominate the Grand Rapids Press for their shameful Devoss ass kissing.

Apparently, the only difference between a brown-noser and a shithead is depth perception.

It is hard to top those on the list, but I really need to nominate Candace Miller. She could be a force for goodness. I think that is what hurts my heart more than the purely evil ones.

So sad!

I nominate Frank Beckmann. He tried to sue Michigan Liberal when he didn't like what they had to say about him.

Frank Beckmann, ja? He is da girly-mann! Alvays complainik about da liberals, ja?

I know the Detroit News is already on the list but I have to pick Nolan Finley he's the Michigan clone of Brit Hume. Ok Brit has more hair but there's no MI-GOP screw up ole Nolan couldn't spin.

Brit "Why Didn't You Kill Omasa?" Hume is one Angry Dude. Nolan is his stepchild.

I would like to nominate Dave Camp.

I have 10 specific reasons:

1. His voting record
2. His voting record
3. His voting record
4. He sucks!
5. He sucks!
6. He sucks!
7. His voting record
8. He sucks!
9. His voting record
10. He sucks!

Bonus reason: "Camp" almost rhymes with "crap".

Now if that isn't a well defined, articulate argument ... I don't know what is.

I would also like to nominate Mike Rogers.

I have 10 specific reasons for this:

1. His voting record
2. His voting record
3. His voting record
4. He sucks!
5. He sucks!
6. He sucks!
7. His voting record
8. He sucks!
9. His voting record
10. He sucks!

bonus reasons:

he harassed Dianne Byrum in 2000 by filing false FEC complaints on a daily basis against her campaign

he disenfranchised hundreds of MSU students (voters) in order to win the 2000 election. article here

Rogers is filth of the worst sort!

(1) Thank you for the nominations!
(2) Thank you for the nominations!

(4) Thank you for the nominations!
(5) Thank you for the nominations!
(6) Thank you for the nominations!
(7) Thank you for the nominations!
(8) Thank you for the nominations!
(9) Thank you for the nominations!
(10) Thank you for the nominations!

I nominate Pete Hoekstra, 2nd congressional district. Pete flies pretty much below the radar on corruption matters but believe me he is deeply involved in war profiteering and war mongering. Check out opensecrets.org to see who is donating to his campaigns. As a senior staffer for his democratic challenger Kimon Kotos, I have researched many issues relating to Hoekstra and I can tell you it is not a pretty sight. I can also tell you that I believe he is positioning himself for a U.S. Senate run against Carl Levin in 2008!

Newly elected State Representative for the 3rd District, Betty Cook-Scott. She anti-gay, anti-abortion and has been an also-ran so many times that it finallly worked thanks to having the same last name as a real (but, no relation to) a real Legislator.
She promises to be a serious embarassment to the Democratic party and will make her predesessor, LaMar Lemmons III look like Barack Obama.
She is a GOP dream. She will support thiere wing nut religious agenda and also show up o the news running her mouth in ways that will embarass her race, her sex and her party.
